Watched this disgrace unfold live on tv and found myself shouting at the screen, glad in a way I wasn't at the game may have gotten ugly. An absolute insult to all of us who have lost loved ones. These people are clearly lost in there bigotry, isolating there view and splitting the Celtic family. Board members cringing on TV as the protest rang out tells another story, so it's time for them to grow a pair and act to prevent this from disgracing the souls of the war dead and our club next year.

I don't feel that the actions of the group of Celtic supporters outside Falkirk's ground were the best way of expressing their outrage at the brutal legacy of the British Army in Ireland.
However, the self-righteous posters on here who cite the legacy of WW2 seem to miss the point entirely - surely the soldiers who died did so in order to prevent fascism and protect our basic human rights - such as freedom of speech. We all have a right to protest.

I am a Rangers fan and think everyone needs to get a bit of perspective. It was 40 morons outside the ground - most decent people (Rangers and Celtic fans) were appalled. The same as we were with the Rangers fans in Bucharest. Don't give the idiots anymore publicity. Morons.....

Jim from Scotland - you honestly think that people with Masters Degrees and Teachers don't do any wrong? What a stupid comment! Poppy day isn't about the British Army it's about freedom from tyranny and oppression. My Catholic/Irish Grandfather fought in WW2 with thousands of others. How many of the idiots singing were from NI? Probably not many, if any. Celtic are a Scottish/British Club with proud Irish routes, we are not a political party. One club who welcomes all. Stop disgracing us!

Absolutely gutted. As an ex British soldier and a Celtic supported for over 40 years, I was saddened by the reports of singing from outside the ground. Just when the Bears are on their arses we give the world an opportunity to say "see, they're just as bad". We all know we're not! Leave it out for one minute a year Bhoys.

falkirk sold the tickets so should have all the names & addresses so when next game comes around dont give to the ones that were at this game.soon here all decent celtic supporters round on the scum when they cant get to games.

Comments by The_dog2 from Scotland on 10 November 2009 at 15:54 - IP Logged
Aiden McAnespie is not a rebel song. Using. Green brigade say that this day is now used as political propaganda to promote illegal wars and thats why people protest. Dont protestors realise that using the day for anti british protesting is therefore hypocritical? Only serves to give those of anti celtic/irish/catholic agendas ammunition to berate the club.stupid c**ts.

Protest is acceptable even against Poppy day. The problem protesters must face is why they pick the one minute of the year when respect is paid to the men and women who lost their lives in wars. Respecting views other than your own, especially when it involves people who live in the same street as you, is a sign of maturity. Those who protested have 364 days of the year to voice their opinion without disrespecting the dead - the shame on these voices will carry much further than their words.

Comments by Seamus from Ireland on 10 November 2009 at 13:40 - IP Logged
Somebody needs to tell these boys that the war is OVER. Sing republican songs at republican gatherings if you will, but leave it out when following Celtic. I am an Irish Nationalist, but there's ways and means of protesting - singing over a minutes silence is NOT the way to do it - leave that sort of crap for the scum who follow follow...
Hail Hail

brainless ingnorant neds - this was not a proper protest but a bunch of buckie fuelled yobs - I am a Celtic fan and I'm ashamed of these idiots. It is impossible to defend the indefensible. Celtic are a football club not a country or a culture - all inclusive means ALL.

Comments by Gerry from Jersey on 10 November 2009 at 13:20 - IP Logged
I agree totally with the previous posts.I too was sickened by these bigoted Yobs. This is not what Celtic is about! How can we now defend ourselves against attack from our enemies? The board also have to come out the shadows and make a statement! Lets see.

Comments by J from Cuba on 10 November 2009 at 13:18 - IP Logged
Frank, You are correct that the brave souls who fought against tyranny in WW1 and WW2 didnt care about religion, sadly that wasnt the case with the "brave souls" who murdered innocent people in Ireland for the religion that they followed (including Aiden Ncanespie who the fans OUTSIDE the ground sung about before the game started)

Comments by kenny 1888 from Azerbaijan on 10 November 2009 at 13:18 - IP Logged
All this fuss over a bunch of dead soldiers! Nobody cares. Its not football connected

Frank Burnside:
CFC, like ALL clubs, cannot be responsible for every fan.
Have you read the posts on here from Celtic fans who are angered by these people??
Surely they deserve a bit of "praise" instead of your blinkered criticism??

Comments by Mike from England on 10 November 2009 at 12:54 - IP Logged
Now you have all these "Anti-Bampot" comments...
What are you going to do with them??
Make them more public on a bigger stage I say.....

Comments by bigmicksboy from Wales on 10 November 2009 at 12:53 - IP Logged
We can never truly be the best fans in the world till we rid ourselves of this sickening, brainless bigotry.

Comments by Frank Burnside from United Kingdom on 10 November 2009 at 12:51 - IP Logged
This disgraceful act just goes to further blow out the water the lies peddled by CFC as being an "all inclusive club" and proves there is rife sectarianism and bigotry amongst the support. Did the brave souls who fought against tyranny in WW1 and WW2 care what religion they were fighting for/against? Singing Republican songs at any point during a silence to respect the war dead goes to show that an amoeba has more brain cells than your average Celtic fan.

Comments by Martin from United Kingdom on 10 November 2009 at 12:47 - IP Logged
Disgraceful. Stupid, angry people who probably don't even know their history. Grow up and get on with living and not using the irish issue to cause problems.

Comments by G. Mitchell from England on 10 November 2009 at 12:26 - IP Logged
As a proud Scotsman living in England this whole matter leaves me red faced & angry!! It is shameful that the people outside or inside could not keep their mouths shut for 1 min! As a Celtic supporter I'm disgusted that clowns like that are aloud to go to Celtic games! Time to get rid once & for all!!

Yet again the so called greatest fans in the world show themselves up for what they are.Rancid bhigots.
Religion should not come into the frame when remembering war dead.

Been following celtic for 30 odd years, the rabble that call themselves celtic supporters on Sunday should never be allowed back at our games. They have shamed us, our team and our country. We should do something as a club about it.

Comments by john from Scotland on 10 November 2009 at 12:20 - IP Logged
i was totally and completely ashamed, embarassed and disgusted by the bigoted fools who disrupted the minutes silence. we are supposed to be the club in this country that accepts all. tho we made ourselves out to look no better than a certain other club.

Comments by Matt from England on 10 November 2009 at 12:17 - IP Logged
I've been a Celtic fan for 50 years, served in the armed forces, and I dont think freedom of speech comes into it, it was a disgrace to Celtic and Scotland what these morons did outside Falkirk Stadium. 1 minute is asked, thats all, just 1 minute to remember all the dead from every conflct and that include Irish catholic soldiers that have died serving in the British armed forces, if you do not want to honour the dead, stay at home and lament on your own bigotry.

Comments by Wullie from Scotland on 10 November 2009 at 12:15 - IP Logged
Utterly shameful scenes and a disgrace to humanity. It's all about remembering everyone and anyone who's suffered, regardless of race, religion or creed. These clowns should be locked in a room with some of the Celtic supporters in Afghanistan and explain why they hate their fellow supporters.
The vilest, subhumans ever to grace a football ground.

Comments by Johnbhoy from Scotland on 10 November 2009 at 12:04 - IP Logged
These 'protesters' are highjacking the poppy day to protest against something that is not related to the memory of our war dead. They're no better than the R**gers t**sers who highjack the day for their far-right, nationalist crap. Yes, you have a right to protest but leave it for anti-war marches, not commemorations. The dead did not start the wars your protest against, and they are not all 'brits' either.

@rseholes! the lot of them!
freedom of speach is not for people in this country who do not respect those who give them that ability!
and besides. this is Scotland not Ireland.

I am disgusted and angry at these morons , who do this in the name of Celtic FC.
I have supported Celtic for over 50 years. I am a Catholic ( if that's relevant) but every bit as important... I AM SCOTTISH.
Celtic Fc , whether some numpties like it or not, ARE A SCOTTISH CLUB.
My Dad, left a wife and five children in 1939 to go and serve his country and did not return until 1946.
I feel his memory is tarnished by these bampots.
If you have a problem with this day...stay in the house.
